identifying an exhaust housing?

so im gonna check out a hx35w a local has. how do i tell what size housing is on it? i know to check for shaft play, anything else i need to look out for? i have a feeling he is gonna have me make an offer. i dont want to lowball him (too bad) but i dont wanna pay a bunch either. what do these usually go for?

If it is a stock Dodge unit, it will have the 12cm.

Casting # 3532214 is the 12v, (not 24v) 12 cm version. The 12cm number wasn't on the link.

If you look into the inlet of the exhaust housing it will have the size cast in the wall, close to the mating flange.

Thanks man perfect timing Ihave been wondering if the casting numbers would tell the housing size.

Exhaust housing size is usually found cast in the inside of one of the runners where the turbo mounts to the manifold.

Make sure it is an HX35 and not an HY35 or a WH1C. Those have 9cm housings.

WH1C should have a 12cm housing. It was used in 1994 and 1995 Ram/Cummins pickups.
