ideal off road wheel backspacing?

my lift kit is done and i lagged on buying wheels and tires I am wondering what you guys think might be good backspacing for driving on the beach and up sandy trails. i feel like wider stance would be good.

Personally I usually stay as close to stock as possible. Changing the offset changes all the steering geometry. Going to wide makes the tires hit the fenders turning, staying in to close makes them hit springs.

Minor changes probably aren't a big deal but I always wonder how bad those trucks with the entire wheel outside the body drive.

Lift and tire size might help guys get the big picture to help you out.
