I think I got Problems

I was turning in the power ajustment screw today a 1/2 turn at a time than snapping the throttle. The screw has been turning really hard for some reason I think I might have destroyed the threds. On the last turn I did I fired it up and a bunch of fuel started leaking from that vicinity. Do I have problems?

The stripped/crossed threads probably damaged the o-ring. I would just get a new screw and o-ring. It's a simple fix.

where is the O ring located? I hope I didn't strip the threads in the housing that it screws into.

It's in the housing where the screw threads in. Use a dental pick or similar tool to get it out.

Thanks man. I should have known when it was turning so hard that I was stripping it out. I think I am going to pull the top of the pump off to repair the damage. Do you know if there is a bosch parts dealer online or do I need to call a dealer? I appreciate your help MBolivar.

My full power screw has the o-ring on it. If you pull your full power screw all the way out you will be able to tell if the o-ring that needs to be replaced is on the screw or not. If your gonna pull the pump top you should put in the 3200 spring while your there.

I don't know of any online Bosch dealer, but there may be one. Most of us on this forum have a local Bosch shop that we pick up parts from. Try searching your Yellow Pages for one in your neck of the woods. I guess you could go to a Dodge dealer but I doubt they will have something like a fuel screw o-ring in stock. Like gearjammer mentioned, try pulling your fuel screw out as your o-ring may be on it. Mine was stuck inside.

The threads may be fine. There's a good chance the o-ring just got in a bind with the threads and made it hard to turn in. Pull the screw out and see if there's any metal shavings on it.

Thanks you guys. Now I just need to find the part number for that o ring and screw. I looked on the ve parts diagram on the sticky and didn't see a # for that particular part.

Hey tspurlin, in the diagram the PN# for the o-ring #417 is 1-900-210-308 and for PN# for the fuel screw Begle posted it about half way down the thread.

Problem solved. I installed a new power adjustment screw and o ring today and Good news, No more leaks. It also turned in allot easier this time. The old o ring was not demolished but it did look worn.

I turned in the screw as far as I could go until it started to turn in really hard. The new screw looks about 1/8” longer than the original and has more threads. Also since there was no collar tack welded the threads were clean. If I did this project over I would have just started out using a new screw.
Is it maxed out? I could not get it to want to run away. Below are pics of the Adjustment screw and low idle screw were they are set right now.

Do I have this pump maxed out besides star wheel adjustment? I have the timing advanced, 3200 gov spring, shaved pin from PDR, and the power adjustment screw in as far as I think it will go. I guess I need to think about injectors or a different turbo set up. Thanks for your help fellers.

If you rev it up does it kinda hang there, or does it drop right back to idle?

Sounds like you need a longer power screw.
