Talking I Got One I Got One!

I finally got a truck! Yee-haw!

1990 250, 2WD, Automatic, Red, Regular Cab, Totally Stock.

Paint's comming off (Blame the Caifornia ****'s), been through 2 tranny's, 300,000 miles, runs good, no rust, only a couple small dents, decent interior, good glass\(WITH WING WINDOWS!), ladder rack and two toolboxes.

How much would have been a good price?

Now, what do I need to fix before it blow's up?

I'm happy, I'm happy, I'm happy, I'm happy.

Picture's in the gallery. Eventually...
I know all of you guy's care, right?

Hey, congratulations! It's about time. I'm gonna say it set you back about $4k. You might want to look into fixing the KDP. Just give it a good going over like any other used vehicle. Have fun!

I'm going to say congratulations, welcome and that I'd say I'd go 4-4.5 thousand u.s.$ for it. As the esteemed Wannadiesel says, go over it thoroughly and I'd change out the dif, oil & tranny just to know that it was done, and when to change it next. A fuel filter and a shot of injector cleaner would not do any harm either.

The only "weak" link in these trucks is the tranny, but it sounds like that's been done, so do the basic maintenance and enjoy what I think is one of the best trucks ever built!! I look forward to hearing from you in the forum here!!

no paint an 300k? anywhere from $2500-4000...

I know the feeling! my first CTD was a 91.5 250 Auto, reg cab, paint coming off, etc. got it w/ 198k on it 3yrs ago for $3750 and was happy as a clam.

I put 65k on it in a year... all I did was straight pipe it and turn up the pump some. loved that truck. sold it back to the guy I bought it from and he put another 120k or so on it.

weak link is the tranny... my original one lasted about 285k... it's been through THREE MORE since my buddy got it back, including a new Chrysler tranny! if the tranny takes a dump on ya, convert to 5sp or drop some coin on a quality tranny and converter.

It's paint isn't too bad- just that eco-friendly HVLP or LPHV or whatever crude...
See Gallery.
I paid 2,650 for the sucker. I don't got too good selection in these parts. This was the first Dodge in my area in 6 months for under 4,000, so I juped on it.

I wasn't aware 1st generations had a KDP... Guess I'll have to get to work on it.

the 1st gens have the KDP, but the injection pump weighs a lot less, and they don't seem to have the same problems as the 2nd gens, but you should still pull the cover, clean/locktite/torque all the case bolts, and tab the KDP just for good measure... it doesn't happen nearly as often, but if it happens to YOU, you ain't gonna care about the statistics!

You got a good deal, When I got mine in 1999 here in California I checked the internet and Recycler. There was hardly any diesels and they were expensive. I got the 91 D-350 LE Dually and I paid $13,000.00 for it. Jim.

It seems the kdp fell out twice in my 93. Once b4 I bought it, and 6 months after I bought it. Check your throttle cable that connects to the pedal. Mine broke and I lost throttle control, good thing they make power at idle.
