I decided to try WMO in my truck and I have two questiones

The first is after I put a 50/50 mix of WMO and #2 diesel in I took it for a ride and the fuel gauge is going nuts. It keeps going from full to empty and everywhere in between very irratic. Has anyone else had this problem? My second question is do I still need to us the power service additive? I have been using it eversince I bought the truck but I was not sure if I should run it with the WMO mix. I took it for a 10 mile run after I put the mix in and it seemed exactly the same except for the idle that actually seems smoother. I am really glad that I can run this mix with fuel prices where they are and with out you guys I would have never known about it Thanks so much!!!!

When I ran it in my GMC i did not used any additive. I ran 50/50 mix and in the winter I would cut it with up to 30% gasoline. It worked great. Do NOT run more than 30% gasoline less is better. In a 30 gallon tank that said empty on the gauge I would put 15 gallons WMO 10 gallons diesel and 5 gallons or what ever was left for room gasoline. This was my winter mix, in the summer or above 40 degrees it was WMO and diesel 50/50. My fuel gauge never bothered on that truck.

Yep, mine does the samething, well not quite as drastic as you make yours sound but still jumps around. I always run additives in my tank. I bet you are going to have a bunch say you need it and a bunch that say you don't. Good luck

Don't use alcohol base additive with wmo. It ill blob up the wmo and you will have big mess!
Alcohol will mix with oil. Try a small sample, I could be wrong.

Motor oil is NOT made to run in a diesel...
That said - lots of us run 1 - 2 qts of 2-cycle oil per tank..That IS made to run in any engine.
Keep alcohol, gasoline, etc OUT OF YOUR TANK when you're running WMO. Most of the better diesel additives can be used.

The reason your sending unit is going nuts is the WMO is cleaning ALL the gunk that collected around the pivots. It may have even cleaned out the bushings it rides on...
Watch your fuel filter - even with a 50/50 mix. You'll get it plugged with all the crap thats been sitting in your tank.

AND - contrary to most opinions - WMO has a slightly higher cetane rating so you can advance your timing a little more than normal. Makes the engine run better..

Not a good idea in a motor that's not mechanically injected or with smog controls.. You'd probably plug up your catalytic converter and destroy your injectors.

Only the white bottle stuff in the winter. WMO provides plenty of lube for the pump.

To be honest - I like playing with Dodge better,
Not as much fun as the wife, but better than computers

Thanks alot guys I appreciate the help. Unixcowboy the only reason that I do not think that this is the cause is because it was instant. I put is in the tank and immediately went for a ride and the gauge was messed up. But I could be wrong also. The additive that I used was the powerservice in the silver bottle but I have not put in in with the wmo mix.

Most of the WVO sites I looked at say it will clean EVERYTHING !

Some of TDI drivers reported the same thing you are, but it took a couple of tanks. Never heard of it going nuts on the 1st tank...
