i am beginning to think these trucks are CRAP
so i"ve dealt with a bunch of problems on this (@ w250 and have4 just about had it!
the electics are a complete nightmare
so 1 day it starts.....the next no juice.....then jump it and no a/c and no charging.....then it has power and then it doesn"t.....then the gauges work and it's fine ands starting then u have to go to work and no powert on cluster and the starter goes CLACK,CLACK<CLACK....
are we all nuts dealing with this tons of dodge crap to have a cummins that relys on dodge to start...

I've owned 3 1st Gens, 2-92's and 1-93. One of my 92's was nothing but one headache after another. It was an absolute ...so I sold it. After owning it for 10 months and having, on average, of 4-5 things a month quit, break, short out, leak, etc. I finially had just had it. The other two, so far so good, but I don't use a 1st Gen as a daily driver anymore. Matter of fact, I drove my 93 yesterday...first time in 10 months. I find that sitting in the garage, they seem to hold together pretty well.

just flipped 347,000 miles on our summer tour, crossed the continental divide 20 times, 5 states, had to come home, ready to go back out, another long wait to trust the first gens scope of dependability in tihe future awaits....

Anytime you wanna drop it off I have zero problems taking it off of your hands...For 5k I've replaced literally everything besides the front diff and the engine itself and its been reliable for me so far. You want a bare bones truck that gets the job done I have zero problems hopping in my truck and going on a road trip. The cab is going to rot off the frame at some point though...should address that

I addressed all of the common ailments of old age.
Put a 63 Dodge M-37 Army truck body on my 90 W250.
Rebuilt the tranny, all new wiring, new upholstery, new paint and turned up the pump. 260,00 miles and no more headaches.

over 800,000 and no complaints 20 years has got to have put some corrosion in the system . as far as junk I dont think so. I have owened every truck made and my dodge has been hands down the most reliable of them all including Toyota and Nissan, all of them have some kind of short coming and @20 years old who know what s been done to it? I have owned mine since new in NOV 89 and its been a good rig for what it was designed for.
