HX35 install started

hey-Hey!!!,
Started the work on an HX35 install in my 1990. Keeping it non-IC'd so a 3" crossover is getting fab'd. Got a 3" radius, mandrel bent 90 and a bit with ~30-degrees for mating to the turbo. Got a 3" spigot for the compressor outlet and began laying it out. Stuck a 21 cm housing on the HX to put it in place and left the compressor snap-ring off to position things properly. Got the one leg of the 90 cut down and stuck in and bolted the manifold/grid heater plate( wimped out and bought a manifold plate from Second-Hand Smoke ). Seems there is a 3" front-back offset between the two ends so it will get a straight mitered joint there. The turned down snout at the turbo needs to be 7/16" shorter; that one will get done first. Fortunately, the TIG machine has a new bottle of Argon.

Yeah, I know...post pix. I will, so get a grip. One question on that: does this site do an auto-resize; can the ~3 MEG files be uploaded w/o issue? Never had pix to put up before...
cheers,
Douglas

No, you have to size them appropriately if you are going to load them in your gallery or as an attachment. If you host them off-site that's not an issue.

Kinda the same idea I'm doin on my non-I. I used an 3" intake plate from a 4.5L Cummins (part # 3287255) to 90* rubber elbow to 2nd gen passenger lower intercooler tube (3") to hx 40 modified for a boot clamp. It's not goin in a dodge so I prolly shouldn't post pics. Waitin for your pics tho Jake

hey-Hey!!!,
Pix still lodged in the camera; that'll get dealt with shortly. Ran into a single difficulty; I don't have the 90/elbow going straight across the head and it took a hammer to drive in the pass side front bolt holding down the cross-over. That after I ground off some of the head...D-Oh!!! and I forgot to adjust #3's valves. That will now take a fair bit ov trouble.
cheers,
Douglas

hey-Hey!!!,
The test drive went well. Power is up, and comes on sooner. Not a large increase as I didn't touch the pump but smoke is drastically reduced. With stock airbox and IC'd air snout it is no louder( and the ring is gone, never had it ). Well worth the effort and now to start in on the IC...
cheers,
Douglas

hey-Hey!!!,
I am running it with a 16cm housing. The 21cm I had laying around got used for fitting before I was ready to mount everything up; I didn't want to take the H1C apart again if the job wasn't done before I needed the truck for getting to work on Monday. Compared to 16cm on the H1C the HX35( with that same 16cm housing) spools up a bit more quickly.
cheers,
Douglas
