Hx-35 side play

There is a bit of side play, but it doesn't touch the housing. NO end play. Rebuild or run it?

run er!!! most turbos have a bit of side to side play. I've heard if its in and out play thats bad or if its rubbing the housing.

Yep.

Randy, there is a spec' for how much radial play you should have, but no one ever gets their dial indicator out to check it, unless you're building a race engine. If it feels too loose, rebuild. If you can move it a little bit, go with it. The centrifugal force of both wheels is going to centre it anyway, up to a point.
As 92Smokinblacky said, in and out play is the killer, like turning the wheels on a lathe with a really blunt cutting tool.
