HX-35 Question

Question,
Can I take my HTT H1C compressor side with center and mate it directly to a HX-35 wastegated exhaust housing using my existing wheel without too many modifications?

Are the hot outlets the same size and in the same position?

If I was going to use the wastegate, which actuator do I need the long or short one?

Are there any advantages and will it spool any quicker than my 18cm housing?

I know a guy who can get me the HX-35 waste gated housing cheap and was wondering if it would be worth playing with.

Thanks Jim

I took a 16cm wastegated housing and put it with my h1c cartridge and comp. I've heard you won't notice anything with the 16 compared to your 18, I noticed a difference from the 21 though. If its the 12 cm housing you'll probably run hot, but you can play with it, oh and the wastegated housing is roughly 1" longer which didn't really matter.

Jim, short answer is yes and spoolup will be much quicker. The hardest part will be getting your old 18 housing off. I blocked the wastegate shut, it max's out at 34psi and I don't have any heat issues with stock injectors in my 92.

Jim, I liked my HX-35, it ran cool, and it would run even cooler with your 60mm wheel. The turbo will probably spool a ton quicker, but you will probably have to be careful that you do not let off to quick, because the turbo will bark easily if you have enough fuel. The hx housing will bolt up to your manifold flange, but you will have to move your exhaust rearward .5"-1"ish. My stock downpipe fit fine. I do not know whether or not the hx exh housing will fit the comp housing or not though. Find out if it's an early or late housing. The early ones are 12cm and the late ones are 14cm. late ones use a waste gate actuator that is connected to the compressor housing. Might be a little difficult with your setup. If it's a 12, try it without a wastegate and see if it hits 40psi.

The exhaust housings are completely interchangeable except the wastegated ones are alittle longer. All HX35 Dodge housings are 12cm, but the later (24v) housings have 1 piece backplate and elbow vs a removable elbow that allows hooking 1st gen downpipes.

I will have to check and see what the housing looks like, the guy at ADP BECS took a new one off the shelf to show me and the wastegate actuator I am sure was on the turbine housing, I am just hoping is a 14cm housing.

I have an exhaust leak from the back flange that I have not investigated yet but my clamp is about as tight as it will go so something is worn, maybe just the flange.

I have a A-727 trans so there should not be to much turbo barking unless maybe a panic stop from 100 mph.

My engine/ turbo is fairly clean and rust free so it should come apart fairly easy, what do you think?

I have the heat shield off the firewall temporally but I think there is enough room for the downpipe

I guess there is a little dust on it.

Jim...I'll almost guarnatee you that your exhaust leak off you down pipe is actually the flange on the exhaust pipe, that the V'band clamp squeezes. I had this on my truck as well.

I believe mine cracked from all the vibration and movement from it not having the lower bellhousing exhaust clamp to hold things steady and secure.

Hi Jim!
If you use a waste-gated housing, you will need to change the turbo drain back tube. The original won't fit.
I just purchased one of of the "Internet auction site" for a 2nd gen.
It would be easy enough to make, however for 10 bucks shipped, what the heck!
