Question for 06 Hot Box owners and airbag question..
Hot Box is a subwoofer box sold on ebay. Just picked one up. It looks like I have to move the airbag controller. Not enough clearance between that and the speaker. Two questions:
1- The wires are not long enought to move this box. I dont want to cut and splice 30 wires. If I pull the carpet, can I re-route the wires? I want to move it to under the drivers seat.
2- Does the airbag controller itself detect impact? Does it contain the sensors? I want to know if I can wire tie it to something or if I have to bolt it down solid.
Thanks

Oval i wouldn't mess with the airbag controller, its not worth the risk of damageing something. I mounted my sub under the rear seat. I made my own box after seeing some others on ebay. I am very happy with the sound. If u still want to mount your sub up front do a search on it, I remember reading a thread about your same question. good luck

You have two choices-
1.) Unbolt the sensor and move it forward and to the right. Closer to the passengers seat. It will make a bulge under the carpet.
2.) Put 2 5/16 nuts on each stud and raise the box up. You will still have enough thread to catch and bolt it down. This is what I did.
Also you need to consider how much your sub sticks out past the box.
Any questions don't be afraid to ask.

This was an old post. I already finished this. Pulling up the carpet, a seperate harness comes from driver and passenger side. One of them reached under the driver seat no problem. The other one, I did end up cutting and splicing all the wires. I soldered all the wires and used heat shrink for a pro job. I bolted it to the floor with sheetmetal screws. No problems.
