HTT turbo question

I have about 1/4" in/out play on my HC1 turbo. The HTT site says only housing and wheel come with kit. So does that me it does not come with shaft and I still have to rebuild? Also could this be whats causing my truck to over heat and lose power when pulling? Thanks

It is just a compressor wheel and housing. If you have bearing trouble it will require a rebuild or a new turbo. Do you have a boost gauge? If the turbine and compressor wheels are rubbing you probably aren't getting the boost you should be, and with more drive pressure. That could definitely cause lack of power and high EGT's. Have you noticed more smoke than normal?

I have not noticed anymore smoke. I do notice with a load going up a hill I hear the turbo kinda skreeching. It does not have the power it should. I guess I will send it off for rebuild and wheel upgrade. Hope it doesnt take long. Ive got camping to do

Stop driving the truck, til it's fixed. Will have more problems than just a turbo, if you don't.

I'm with bmoeller on that one. Also, you should see how much a rebuild and new wheel and housing will cost; it may be cheaper just to go with something like the PDR 35 or a used HX35.
