The wastegate is on the turbine housing. The Stage IV is a compressor.

The Stage IV (and other HTT Stages) only upgrade the compressor housing and compressor wheel (and also the backing plate on the Stage IV). The stock H1C doesn't have a wastegate on the exhast housing so the HTT upgrade won't change anything there.

All they do is upgrade the compressor? I did not know that...

I'm sure by 40psi the drive pressures with the 12cm are through the roof. I'm thinking about putting the 18.5cm housing back on or rigging up the wastegate to work, and wastegating it at 33-35psi. I'd really like to set up a drive pressure gauge just to see what it looks like at different boost pressures, since I'd like to stay close to 1:1.

Oh, and my tranny hates me now!

The Stage IV is $285. I paid $285 + $4.20 (the compressor outlet o-ring) + $18.54 shipping. Total: $307.74

Update: I got a video of the sounds (the camera picks them up well at <12psi boost) and the EGT's and boost.

Sweet vid! Cameras still can't do that sweet sound justice though, can they? FWIW, I've got a drive pressure gauge hooked up and with a heavily ported 12cmWG housing, I'm right in the 1:1 neighborhood all the way to the wastegate opening @36-ish pounds. I'd still like to try the 18 again (sold it ) just to see if the SOP is any different...my trucks actually feels faster with the wastegate wired open....

Awesome video clip, Gman! Yours picked up the sound a lot better than mine did.

Is there a general rule of thumb with drive pressures and housing sizes? Moving from a 12cm to a 14cm would allow how much more max boost at the same 1:1 drive pressure? I know it's not set in stone and varies for each truck, but is there some sort of general guideline one can use to estimate it?

Don't you just love that spool-down sound when you kill the motor? A year and a half later I still sit there grinning like an idiot every time I shut the truck off.

Cool vid, my boost shoots through the roof much faster. The spool down once the truck is shut down is cool!!

I'd try the 18.5cm housing out, the 12cm housing is quite small for you especially if you dont have the wastegate hooked up, and i can imagine drive pressures are through the roof!

With the stage 4 and the 18.5cm housing i can hit about 36 PSI. When the boost kicks in it's up to 34 right away then slowly climbs for that last 2 PSI.

Give it a try and see what you think of it. It's a little laggy down low but you should be able to tune your fuel for that.

I'll definitely do some testing soon, but for now I have a shift kit that needs installing. It's tough to decide between the 12 and the 18.5 because I love the sound of the 12 . And then I'll need a torque converter, and then a locker so I spin both rears, and then injectors, and then... oh wait, college.

You talked me into it! I ordered the Stage IV kit from HTT yesterday. It is gonna be nice to get my egt's below critical temperature for a change. That is a well done write up with pictures, which by the way will be on my bench when I break the first nut.
