You talked me into it! I ordered the Stage IV kit from HTT yesterday. It is gonna be nice to get my egt's below critical temperature for a change. That is a well done write up with pictures, which by the way will be on my bench when I break the first nut. HTT said that the kit will support up to 400 horsepower with the 16cm housing. I'll let you know how the tranny likes it.

We can do that. My truck is more recreational than anything. If the tranny goes on its own, it would be easier to sell to the wife than "I just want another trannsmission". I just hope it doesn't die on the boat ramp. That would be embarassing.

I may have to call them now to... darnit!

I don't know how big of a wheel to get. Right now I am not turned up much with the colar still on the screw. I had troubles with EGTs when towing at elevations above 5K ft. Towing is the trucks primary duty.

The kit arrived and was installed today. I let it idle for about five minutes or more while I cleaned up the mess in the garage and took it for a test drive. I didn't have the dramatic results that Gman07 did. First of all I am running a muffler with a 3 inch to 4 inch exhaust system. I am also running stock injectors. My egt's only dropped a hundred degrees or so at WOT with an empty truck. Boost pressure is up to almost thirty psi. I have just got to go fishing Saturday so I will see how it does under load. I may need to bump my timing up a little more. On the up side, the kit only took an hour to install and the sound is definitely a head turner. I got waves and smiles from people I don't even know. I have very little if any end play or side play in my turbo. There is a slight drag on the shaft that may just be the seals. The componets are well made and fit was excellent. The only hiccup was the new compressor housing has a slightly smaller intake snout and the hose clamp would not tighten enough to secure the hose. I took some webbing and used it to shim the clamp sufficiently to secure the intake hose. I will drive it to work in the morning and see what happens with a little more break in.

Is the sound that much more noticable? With my stock H1C/18 cm I can barely hear any turbo whistle at all.

I can't stop smiling now with the Stage IV and BHAF. The sound increase is awesome

It is just like what Gman said, Awsome! I finally got a chance to let the horse out of the barn this morning. There is a noticable performance nudge above 30 mph all the way to 85 which is where I ran out of road. I was too busy watching where I was going to give a good set of numbers but I will say that the egt's are noticably less than with the old compressor wheel. As far as more noise is concerned.......I can hear the turbo wind down when the engine is shut off with the windows up. I couldn't hear that before unless I was standing next to the tail pipe.

UPS dropped off my package from HTT yesterday. This weekend's project will be installation of: Stg IV/16cm, Stan's 4" exhaust and pyro/boost gauges. The wife was laughing at me as I unpacked my goodies in the living room last night - just like a kid at Christmas. She vaguely nodded and smiled as I tried to explain what everything was/did, but I think I lost here at the turbine housing.

I haven't the courage to tell mine yet.
