I keep hearing about the "restrictive" grid heater but how restrictive is it? I have ran it a few days unplugged and it starts ok. Will I gain noticable power/airflow by removing it?

It's my opinion the grid itself is not restrictive. The housing on the other hand benefits from having a grinder run around the perimeter matching it to the gaskets, top and bottom.

You'll see.

Im running a blank but am going to put the heater back in it. I like the way it starts when below 35 much easier with the heater in.

well I gutted it and got the dremel after it. Looking side by side also the 3rd gen horn looks like it flows much better than the first gen one. After some porting I bet the 3rd gen one flows extremely better.

With the heater grids gone and the spacer/intake horn ported out the throttle responce feels a little more crisp and it feels like it gains rpms a little quicker city driving. I didnt get it on the highway yet and havent tried to see if peak boost has changed yet, I will in the morning on the way to work.

Also compared the first gen and 2nd gen IC's, the 2nd gen has nearly 2x the surface area. I think it will be going in very soon, along with a set of the CoolerTubes.
