How often are you changing fuel filters?

Just wondering what kind of interval you all have been using. I noticed I start to see a decline in engine performance around 15K miles myself. I think they should last a little longer than that though.

Having a post filter fuel, fuel pressure gauge is the best way to know when to swap them out.

Similar to KRB.

Once a year or every 10k or so. Usually oil and fuel are done simultaneously.

I change mine every 5000-6000 miles, for two reasons. A) I don't really trust the stations around here, B) Filters are cheap.

Same as KRB, every other oil change, so every 6k - 8k miles.

When my pressure gauge tells me. They filter Better the dirtier they get up to a point. And that for me is a reduction at idle of 3 psi normal is 16 psi at idle

Same here, Once a year when I do the oil and oil filter change, air filter, and fuel filter at the same time. I only put 5-6k on the truck per year though.

Maybe I should just start watching my gauge and change accordingly.

Much less frequently in our trucks vs a newer diesel. Our trucks much more forgiving to dirty fuel, why we run 12-15 micron filters vs the new gen guys running 1-2 micron.

Water in the filter is usually the major culprit. If you buy fs1221 or bf1221 just drain it off occasionally and run until fuel pressure drops. I'm also cheap, lol.

Otherwise, I'd say annually is plenty good!

If you have a gauge, there is no reason to not run it as long as you can IMO. Without a gauge, the more often the better.

When I think about it like that, a fuel pressure gauge would eventually pay for itself in just filter savings alone, let alone an injection pump...

On my '01 which has a fuel pressure gauge, I usually go about 50,000 miles before noticing a couple PSI in fuel pressure drop at WOT.
You could save a decent amount of cash not swapping filters blindly with a gauge.

I get where you guys (or misers) are coming from

lol

But, to me, $12 a year is nothing to blow on my ride. Heck, my wife spends $50 a week on our dogs and cats. What the heck is $12.00?

I have over a case of them in stock, so if I went as long as you guys, when I died, my wife would still have a case of filters hanging around.
