winter front helps. So does pulling out the HVAC box and resealing it.

Winter front, plug it in, good boots (for you and the truck ), warm clothes, and electric socks that plug into the cigerette lighter.

Check your antifreeze level. My crown vic would get ice cold air at speed but nice and hot at idle. The coolant bottle was empty. Fill it up and all was good to go.

sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. My 91 will darn near melt you out of the front seat, if you let it.

We have four drivable Cummins trucks at the moment, two are non-I/C radiators, one is an I/C, and another is my Ford with the HUGE Ford diesel radiator that is at least four-times the capacity of the Dodge units.

On a 10* day, all four of these trucks heat right up and will soon run me out of the cab they get so warm --- without winter-fronts/cardboard installed.

I do keep the coolant systems in A-1 shape, which is likely a big help.

I agree.

I had my thermostat get shrapnel from a failed water-pump caught in it such that it was held open and I like to have froze until I figured it out.

Blow out your heater core and make sure your coolent is toped off. I would second the thermo and I also run carboard when I am on the east side.

also make sure your coolant loop isn't leaking under pressure (mine was, but I never saw it under the truck). the heater loop runs off the top 4" of the radidiator and if your antifreeze is too low - NO HEAT

I use a winter front and removed the stock cooling fan replaced it w/ an electric one out of a ford taurus... Nevr runs except in the summer... Comes up to temp in -20 in 10-15 minutes of high idle or driving.

If it is an A/C truck, that heater-hose shut-off valve gizmo could be stuck in the closed position.

Get the engine up to operating temperature and feel how warm the heater-hoses are.

-check the left floor vent for air leakage, some folks seal them up permanently.
-the various air doors in the HVAC box have been known to sieze up.
