take the spring out of the afc, if it dont smoke at low end before it builds boost, then look into cutting the collar off your fuel screw

no advancing the timing wont help much, and your fine pulling the spring out, if you want pull the little poly washer off the fuel pin first and see if that helps.

Wow, Something is up. Mine smoked a little before I touched the pump and after I did what you said above, I could fill an intersection with smoke that would take 30 seconds to clear up depending on the wind.

At night, I can drown out the headlights in my rear-view of the car behind me.

thats what i was scarded of, on a first gen an auto ant gona break as easlie as a 2nd gen but it will also hold you back badly cause of the loose converts that dodge put on them. this is more than likly why it isnt smoking because its not putting the load on the motor because of the converter slipping. i would suggest getting a converter.

My truck when it was stock didn't smoke at all with pin turned deepest, power screw 1/4 turn from runaway, starwheel/smoke screw both down either. Try making sure you have full travel on your accelerator, there should be a sticky about it somewhere.

Why would anyone want to watch $2.85 a gallon fuel float away as a big cloud of smoke?? Aren't tickets for pollution and being a safety hazard kind of expensive too??

Those of us in Free America don't have to worry about crap like that. And if the OP or anyone else for that matter wants to cause nuclear winter in their wake, that's their prerogative. There's a time and a place for it...there are some times when you just want to fart a big cloud out of your pipe for one reason or another.

Bury your smoke screw as far as you can, and put your starwheel all the way down, keeping track of the # of turns so you can back track if you need to. Don't mess with the power screw anymore until you have gauges. This will get you what you're looking for. Also, maybe the reason we have so varied responses to pump settings is due to location and elevation. We went on vacation in '08 for Gustav, and all my tires were set at 80 for towing, even the spare. When we got to Arkansas at the campground, all my tires were 12lbs over and my spare blew up in the back of my truck! Just a thought.
