New Paint & Flat Bed

Well, I've been on a quest here for the past few months in getting my truck painted and a new bed on it, so I thought I'd share some pictures as I have seen very few flat bed pictures on the site.

- New Paint Job
- New Gooseneck Brand Flatbed
- Jim Lane's LED Treatment
- New Leaf Springs
- 6 new Firestones

I am officially out of money!!!

To be honest, I don't recall the brand. The local spring & driveline shop here hooked me up with them - they are some sort of softer riding spring, but don't ask me how they determined it. Either way, with the weight of the bed, my truck rides like a cadillac now, and I say that in all meaning of the term. Its amazing compared to how it used to ride - better than any first gen I've ever ridden in, and as good as any new 1 ton if not better.

I will take a stab at this one - first thing is, spring steel gets harder to flex after many years of use, plus the rust that builds up between the leaves makes the entire pack more resistant to flex. Second, the trend to a better ride is to use thinner leafs, but put more of them in the pack. Do you still have your old spring packs?

my $0.02

I had some surface rust on the roof, and the poor factory paint was flaking everywhere else. I had it taken down to the metal and started over from scratch.

I think your exactly right - I posted a month or so back about how putting those spring tabs and such really is no substitute for new springs. It truly was an amazing change in the ride, but again, I think mine was so sucessful because I've also got a heavy steel bed too.
