How Big Is A Valve Cover Gasket For My 93??

I just purchased one for when I adjust the valves and I'm kind of surprised by the size of the thing....
Should it be about the same size as the valve cover (like on an old small block Chev)?? Or is this 4 inch by 5 inch kind of square piece of gasket the whole thing?? Thanks! Chuck

It's the whole thing. You need 6 of them. But unless yours are leaking or otherwise damaged you shouldn't need to replace them. Under the pretty Dodge cover there are 6 individual valve covers you can take off 1 at a time if you like. Set the valves cold.

Here's complete instructions to adjust the valve lash.

Get the gray ones from Cummins. I made the mistake of getting Fel-Pro ones, and they are leaking after 2 years.

Mine didn't leak, until after the valve adjustment.

I think Dick Laing Diesel is a Cummins dealer. I know they're a Bosch dealer--that's where I got my 366 gov spring.

So all the 12 valve motors use the same gaskets?

Thanks you guys! Upon reading the description further I find now that I didn't pay good enough attention and got SOAKED on this one. I figured a valve cover gasket is a valve cover gasket but NOTHING has ever been easy working on this truck, so it figures that I buy 1 and need 5 more. There's no leaks currently but who knows after the valve adjustment?? Live & learn....and never again.

Just do the adjustment and use your current gaskets. If they are the gray ones you shouldn't have a problem. If not, then see if they leak. Try and get your money back on the one you bought or keep it for the future generations.
