Seems like it reads a bit low, more towards the bottom quarter than in the middle.

Not very accurate.

Check it with a real oil PSI gauge.

Sigh, add to my list of mods- gauges. Lots of gauges. Already want a tach, just like the one that was on my manual 93

Mine was reading low, I replaced the sensor on the block. That made a big difference.

Diesel makes the oil dirty in a hurry. It is not uncommon for the sender to "plug up" with soot. I've replaced a couple in my diesel lifetime. Don't bother cleaning it, replace it. You can't get it all out.

Had one on my 89 motor that was triggering the low oil pressure light and got super worried so hooked up a manual gauge...turned out I had 30-40lbs at idle and 60-80 at throttle.

I will have to look up where it is, but this sounds like a great place to start right off!

I am working towards the pillage gauge cluster, and I am going to have a manual gauge for sure.
