Found this HY35 for sale for $500...is that a reasonable price for it and will it be a good upgrade from the stock turbo? I would probably use it with the 16cm housing I just got. Would it be a direct bolt on replacement?

From everything that I have heard the HY is not a very good turbo. Most of the 2nd gen guys with the HY swap them out for the HX or bigger. I don't know the difference but if they are swaping I would say don't buy it plus in my opinion 500 sound pretty high. You could find a HX for cheaper than that. There are quite a few 1st gen guys running the HX but I haven't heard of any with the HY and there must be a reason.

I just read on htturbo.com that the HY35 won't work with the 16cm housing, so I guess I'll start looking for an HX35...

Check the classifieds here I do remember seeing a couple of them. Just a thought but for the price you will spend on the hx to use the 16 you already got why don't you just upgrade your h1c through HTT or garett. Check into the compressor upgrade. I am planning on the Garett stage III upgrade. I was told by numerous people that the HTT stage IV wasn't worth the money to go with the stage III. But like I said it's just a thought.

I have a HY on my truck and love it. with stock size injectors and a maxxed out pump I can only hit 1200* It has awesome spool up and it whistles really loud. It makes a 5spd truck really fun to drive. I am upgrading mine because i am getting bigger injectors. I will sell it cheap. If you want it pm me.
