Help Fuel pickup decision

Ok so i plan on upgrading the fuel system. I need to know the maximum size hole you can drill in this fuel pick up peice. see attached picture.

That is a 3/8" hole, maybe slightly larger in the above picture. Its uncertain from this picture.

I'm thinking maybe a 10mm hole roughly .4" or i would like to do a 1/2" hole. Reason i ask is i plan on using a check valve to hold fuel in the lines and need to decide which one to go with.

Thanks,
Nick

no its not, he describes how to use the square thingie to connect your fuel line to.

I'm doing something different which involves boring out the center i just need to know how large i can go before i start to cut through the side walls of the X shaped pick-up tube. (Under the round disk up top)

I've since figured out that plastic piece you're working on is a "Filler-Plug". It takes the place of the in-tank lift-pump used in other vehicle applications.

If you can fashion a way to keep it in place, cut the entire tube off the bottom piece and install your barb fitting there (at the end closest to the screwdriver)..

A peice of 3/4" cpcv pipe fits real nice in the bottom filter and I'm sure you can figure it out from there.

THanks dave i thought it was something like that. Didn't know if it was a moving piece or what. I'd hate to dig into this project to find out that its important or something.

That a good tidbit flatbed, i'll have to see what i can come up with, and take some pictures.

I just hate being blind-sided when trying to do an improvement project.

Thanks again guys!
