he351 rebuild with parts resources

got the 351 back to new condition, with aftermarket parts, went to bae turbo in alhambra, ca. bob came up with matching parts from the aftermarket replacement, being the turbine shaft crossed to a rare smaller hx35, he dosent sell many of, the parts rebuild kit i used was for the hx35, it was short 2 circlips, for the shaft bearings, but had all of the correct thrust parts neede for the job, the compressor wheel is the larger hx40 measuring at 59.6 x 86 mm. im not sure what the dimensions of the super hx40 come in at, but bob said this was the largest to his knowledge, i got the parts for 200. just the comp wheel was 220. from turbosupply, comp housing fits like a glove, cant wait to get it installed, i still need to move the gate, i also need the flange to weld to my down pipe, along with the v-clamp, where is the best place to get the 4-3/8" flange? ill need 2, i got another turbo coming for my jeep 4bt, the part numbers are on the boxes and receipt, bob at bae showed a lot of interest in the 351, and was very helpful, bringing out armloads of compatible parts, this will take the fear out of buying a worn out unit, the center housing can also be had, just make sure the compressor housing is intact, the exhaust housing shoud survive any failure, short of cracking around the gate. i posted on photobucket so you can zoom in to hi-resolution. I'm a bit confused. Did this bring the HE351 back to stock or something better? Is there a reason why you couldn't use a HE351 rebuild kit?

I have HE351 that I need to rebuild so I'm quite interested.

It is hard to find specific HE351CW kits, the HY35 kit is identicle.

we measured these parts to be identical, holset lists them with separate part numbers, high tech turbo cant even get parts, we concluded the aftermarket has not crossed this bridge, turbosupply does list the parts, 210. comp wheel, 180. shaft, 80. hy35 rebuild kit. bae crossed all the parts to the previous description, the only visual difference was the shaft has less thread you wont use, for anyone looking to freshen up, or rebuild call bob bae turbo, all the parts came to 200. like i said, the hx35 kit was the same, less 2 circlips. thanks for correcting the thread to photobucket clayh!

What are the dimensions on the turbine wheel?

I have been doing some HE351 reading this morning and nothing is ever the same. From Holest I was told the HE351's (CW and VE) both use a 60x82mm comp wheel, and the Super40 uses a 60x85mm wheel. HE351's are supposed to have about 61lb/min and the Super 40 is approx 70 lb/min. But the measurements are all different in several of the threads I have seen.

these questions have plagued this site, the physical measurement is 59.60 x 86, can anyone conclude the super 40 dimensions? this was bae's larger hx40 comp wheel. rick12v is still trying to confirm compressor map, im sure these run the hx40 numbers, we just want to justify the specs/performance.

Time to throw a wrench into this topic.
I picked up a 2007 6.7 with a 351VGT that's crispy crittered (fire), any ideas on sizes in this thing before I tear it apart?

I'll say this much, it's one UNIQUE looking turbo and it appears to be cooled by engine coolant.

The compressor housing looks suspiciously like an HE351CW, but appears to have a larger compressor and wheel.
I know the exhaust housing won't even come CLOSE to bolting to a 12 valve, or even a VP 24 valve, exhaust manifold.

Mark.

I have read it a few places as well... maybe I put too much credit in Holset's data???

The HE351VE uses the same compressor wheel as the HE351CW, which Holset told me was 60x82. The turbine wheel on a CW is supposed to be 68x60, and the VE is supposed to be 72x63.

I have no clue, since there are no real identifiers on it, with having been in a fire, though it has "Holset VGT" plainly cast into the exhaust housing, that hardly tells me anything that would provide specs. Or does it?

That helps with the compressor side, which is what most concerns me, but if this is an HE551, any clues on the compressor/wheel sizes there?

Whatever this one is, it is NOT gated and had an elaborate module/motor assembly attached to it, which is, of course, crispy crittered.

Variable vane?

{EDIT}
It's definitely an HE351VGT.
Here's a link to some pics of one very much like mine, pre-toasted:
