The cargo light comes on whenever it feels like and stays on. Sometimes it takes several "held-pushes" on the switch to turn it off, it goes off... and several hours later, randomly, comes on again... Spooky, uh?
Has anyone had the same curse?

 

I did and I believe its the switch, ended up taking it out (ok accidentally breaking it trying to disassemble it) and then I found out that Dodge no longer makes that part...great. I suppose you could wire in a generic toggle switch?

 

Thanks, NoSparkPlugs. I suspect the switch, too. the sucker is tucked way where it's almost impossible to get to without dropping the dash, oh well...

 

The switch is easy to pop out, just press the 2 tabs on the side of the switch (behind the dash part) and disconnect the connection and its out.

 

I can't picture where the cargo light switch is on 1st gen trucks. Where is it and what does it look like?

 

Its directly on the other side of the column from the head light switch and it looks like a OD button, small square and lites when you push it even if the cargo light doesn't.
