Group 31 choices

I've had good luck with Interstate in the past although I bought the local Carquest brand last time which has worked well so far. only about 2 yrs
Aren't all batteries made by 2 or 3 companies anyway??
I say BUY AMERICAN!!!
Cars,trucks,batteries or underwear. EVERYTHING!
It may cost more but if we don't our younger generations will eventually be at the mercy of the commies

A friend of mine has run Optima batteries since the late 90's. He's noticed a significant drop in quality over the past 5 years. He no longer buys them for his CTD or his wheeling rig (88 Bronco).

Your terminals look like they have been hammered on a few times in their life.
You need to invest in a few new battery cables, or better yet, crimp on some copper ring terminals and install a pair of military terminals.

Good point KRB; reason being that I've read that Optima batteries made in the past 5 years or so aren't all that long lasting.
Here's another Group 31 choice - the Odyssey 2150 - but it seems to have the terminals in the wrong place.
The Group 65 Odyssey 1750 has more CCA and RCM than the Group 31 Optima - and the terminals in the right place - any experience with Odyssey batteries?
Odyssey Batteries Canada Specifications - odyssey battery Canada, odyssey batteries, odyssey battery

Batteries are like underwear. Nobody cares what they are so long as they are maintained and not defective. I buy cheapish batteries... usually Exide (under Canadian Tire's house brand Motomaster.) Good customer service, warranty, and points/discount program.
I have several Dodges, so I just rotate to keep the newest ones in the rig that needs to be the most dependable.

Jim you are spot on, the previous owner not only used a under sized battery but actually broke the terminal (battery) from banging on it.

I use Deka 1231 pmf in my 92 (1000 CCA). I have been using them for 20 years. About $100 each. I usually get 5-7 years out of them. They look like they are sealed but the label comes off and have screw in caps. I watch electrolyte level in summer and add distilled water when needed. The Deka is the only one I can easily obtain around here. We have a battery warehouse that sells Deka.
Interstate has them listed but they are $200 and I haven't had good luck with interstate batteries in my Jetta TDI. They have replaced them under warranty 3 times in 6 years and they went dead with no warning (shorted cells).
