governor spring... to another hole???

Well I'm swappin pump tops on this pump for my friends truck cuz the pump he has doesn't run and we bought another pump that is missing a few parts but runs, so I'm just swappin the tops, and I clipped a stock spring 2 coils and was gonna put it in, and I know the governor spring hooks into the top hat and the little hole in the little lever that swings on the bottom of the throttle shaft. But also there is another little hole in the big lever that has the small swinging lever that comes off of it. It looks like as if you could move the small swinging arm to the inside hole? Or i was wondering if you could hook the governor spring through that hole on the big arm instead of on the little swinging arm? Or take the swinging arm off and use the hole that the pin is through now because that would allow the governor spring to be pulled further/tighter til the lever hits the side of the pump top housing, where with the swinging arm it wouldn't pull it as tight... I was wondering if it would run better, more responsive? or more rpm, or fuel? I've got a 4200 spring that I'm goin to put in my truck soon and was just thinkin about this today while i had this pump apart. I was wonderin if anyone had tried it or think it'd work? or if I should try it when i change my spring?

Am I on to anything? or am I way off and it won't work?

I'm sure it was done like this for a reason...perhaps it needs to swing to clear other moving parts?

probably, I was just curious about it because I noticed the other hole but wasnt sure what it was for or what its purpose was. I was thinkin it would be kind of like the two holes on the throttle linkage, and if you move the linkage to the inside hole, it runs better.

I think without the little "arm" to pivot on the spring would eventually wear and break the hook. Thus, losing all control of the governor and having a runaway situation when you would least expect it.

If the governor spring breaks or falls off the engine quits.

But yeah, it's a bad idea.

I figured it probably wouldn't work, but I was just really curious about it. Looks like I'll just try out the 4200 spring the regular way, I'm sure it'll be plenty anyways.
