Gov. spring and 4.10 gears

91.5 I/C 5 speed, 4.10 gears. Will the spring be a big change, or will the 4.10's still be a limiting factor?? And I'm waiting on warm weather to put on my 12cm WG housing also.

Only thing 4.10s will be limiting is your fuel mileage. That gov spring was the first pump mod I did to my truck and the improvement was nothing short of amazing. Any 1st gen with a 5sp should have this mod at or near the top of the list of things to do.

i have 3.54s and a manual and when i installed the spring just a week ago or so i noticed a big increase in performance not so much at the higher end but the stiffer spring makes it pull harder all the way through the band. i am not sure why you wouldnt see the same result having 4.10s

well sounds like a modification i need to do. is there a place on the internet i can get it from, because the closest diesel distributer is 50-75 miles away, and fuel would cost more than the spring itself

Piers lists the spring for $16 and a 3000 RPM governer spring kit for $125. Do I need the kit or can I get by with just the spring and reuse the seals?

i am a complete idiot and i did it...so i figure if an idiot can do it you should be alright...honestly i had no prior experience to working on pumps other than pump mods(external) and me and a friend (not an idiot) figured it out in a pretty smooth fashion. i did stay at a holiday inn express though so thats what i accredit my ability to...
