Got the Sway Bar Mocked Up

It showed up last week and I finally got time to do some "fitting" last night. This is gonna be one sweet chassis mod. Looks like the measurment width-wise is just about right on. Couple holes in the frame on each side will mount the end links perfectly. Better yet, due to the 2" lift, it will go on top of the axle, basically upside down from the stock location, so no loss of ground clearance. Just need to fab up some mounting brackets and weld them on.

I'll post some pics when it's finished for anyone to look at who wants to put a 2nd gen rear sway bar on their 1st gen.

Pretty sweet mod! Be sure to let us know how it does. I always like the idea of having a swaybar on a highway rig.

What are you using for a antisway bar? I've been looking for one to go on the front axle but haven't come across an affordable deal yet. On my truck the front mounts are built into the top spring mounting plate and the chasis is drilled for factory brackets. I just need the bar, frame brackets and the rubber.

I picked up a used one from a 2000 2500 off guy on eBay for $35. The end link joints are even still good. Lucky find. A little work to make it fit, but not much. Minor drilling and welding is all. Could probably get away with u-bolts for axel attachments, but I'm going to make proper brackets and weld them on.

I have a w350 and the top of the spring clamp already has a place for the dog bone to bolt into. Yours must be a little different.

I'll have to take a closer look, but it seemed like the bar bushings (dog bone?) were situated a good 2-3 inches inboard of the spring clamp. Probably a design change going into the 2nd gen would be my guess...

That makes sense. The second gens have coil springs on the front.

Finished the sway bar install yesterday, turned out nice. Took pics, but gotta work today, maybe get them posted tomorrow. Took a bit longer than I expected, but then again, what doesn't. Truck likes the rear bar. Feels tighter in turns. Haven't stressed it hard yet, but took a couple turns on the way in today alot faster than I normally would and it felt good, we'll see. Gotta see about what can be done up front now...
