Rear Sway Bar

Hi all;
My new-to-me '97 2500 4x4 CDT doesn't have a rear sway bar. I think I've seen rear sway bars under the Dodges - was that an option, or maybe aftermarket, or maybe the newer trucks have it?
Thanks.
Greg

Re:Rear Sway Bar

I think it came with the "Camper" option.
All I know is my dually corners like a Porsche. ;D

Well a 7,500 lb Porsche anyway.

Re:Rear Sway Bar

The sway bar, along with overload springs, was included with the camper package. I elected to order mine without, and add an aftermarket item, along with airbags for secondary suspension, if needed.
Mine arrived last week, and is on the shop floor. Might get to installation this week. Made by Hellwig, and available from Summit, and elsewhere.

Re:Rear Sway Bar

Mine has a sway bar. I took it off for a while and the thing rode like a Cadillac. Put it back on, the handling stiffened up, and the ride got a bit worse. I'll take the improved handling over the soft ride anyday. On a sidenote, it was harder to kick the rear end out when the sway bar was off. Not that I would do that.

Re:Rear Sway Bar

The 97 came with it via the camper package. Works great!

The overload springs makes the back end a little bouncy until the 1200 lb pin weight gets add and works perfectly. Plus I'm going to pick up some new rancho shocks 5000s for the front and 9000x in the back for adjustability. I nearly got bounced off the road on the frost heaved roads in northern Minnesota a couple weeks ago. I looked like this!
