Getrag Problem.. Shift Linkage??
Ok gentlemen, my super dodge lives again! Took me awhile to get it done because I never got the chance to stay home until it was done. Had to keep going home for a day and then coming back up to where I go to school at so I could work my shift and then go back home. Then I had to find a welder, blah blah blah. The problem was obvious once I got the cover off the trans. Let's see if you can tell me what's wrong with this picture....

Lots of man hours. All just to put a roll pin back in its place. I'm just happy it didn't come all the way out
A couple other ones had started working their way out too but just barely. I made sure they were all properly recessed. I definately recommend doing the floor pan mod. It's very easy and it would be really quick if you have the time to stick with it until its done. Another thing that slowed my progress was the fact that a bolt broke off. Luckily it was still sticking out of the case a good ways. For those that dont know, the cover isn't threaded so I could still pull it off with half a bolt in there. Welded a nut to it and she came right out. I was a little discouraged when this happened because the one that broke off was the VERY FIRST one i tried to break loose.
Let's just say I was a little apprehensive on trying to loosen the other ones. Whatever shop rebuilt this, locktited every single bolt. They all had red locktite from top to bottom on them.
They never got finger loose until they were all the way out.
And now some random pictures of the job...

My floor boards were not pretty....

I guess that's all. I'd like to thank everyone for their help on this. Without you guys, this would have been off to a trans shop. I love this 1st gen crowd!

Hello, I just bought a ‘new’ old (1992) D350 with the Cummins. It has a Getrag 360 in it. I didn’t get it half way home when it jammed in to 4th gear. I got it home, but hope I didn’t smoke the clutch. It was way hot and smelled bad. I got a good deal, and the engine is OK or I go ape on the guy. He did tell me something about a problem with it to be honest. I found he had cut the floor and had worked to top cover over real bad. Pulled out all the pressed in caps, worked the shift rods over, had a hose clamp holding home made pins in at the base of the shifter and siliconed it all back together.
I have rebuilt a few engines before, but never worked on manual trans. I didn’t know any better and moved the gears around to get it into neutral, and I saw here that was a mistake.
If some one could give me a lead on where to buy a rebuilt, or good used cover I be grateful. Spun Bearing sent me the manual, but it said the top is not serviceable.
Any help here would be great.
