getrag help
I bet He got the ball bearing out of the housing from one of the synchronizers and can't get it back IN.
Yes it is a little hard but after a few times You get it and it isn't so hard, don't ask how i know
. Btw while You are doing it might as well order new ball bearings (I think they are 3 ***** on each syncro) and the little shoe/retainer that rides with it on all synchros, this ***** wear and the gears pop out some times, this should prevent it.

Btw, if I remember right I put one ball at a time and use a small flat screw driver to keep the tiny spring in the housing, with the retainer and ball in place then push the IN. While You are doing this the ring should be out of the outer ring and then You slide the two together with the spring being compressed. It was frustrating but like I said with out knowing I figured it out after a few times. Watch out and don't let them fly, do this on a table with high edges and put a cloth covering the floor in case the fly You can search them easier this way, does this sound like all that happened to Me

thats exactly what I am talking about I grenaded the input. started the tear down when I separated the input from the main the brass fell off and those three little
came out. the tranny was rebuilt about 40k ago everything is in good shape as far as the main shaft and syncros so I don't plan on tearing that down just replacing the input and cluster gear . thats all that was damaged

Grease them up real good with heavy chassis grease. That will help keep them together. Also the 3-4 synchro ring is actually a little easier to reassemble if you place the center piece on the assembled mainshaft vs. doing it on a flat bench top.
