Get Rag still grinds!!! ahhhh!! help!

So I just finnished rebuilding my Getrag, all new brass syncros, new 3rd gear, new 3&4 syncor ring, new imput shaft, new south bend clutch, new roller bering pilot bering, all new bearing in the tranny ect...... took the girl for a test drive, and she still grinds, some times in to 3rd when down shifting. Is it me? am I down shifting too fast?.... do the new and old marts just need a chance to mesh together?... I dont want to take the rag out again if I dont have to..... she is a heavy pig! lol any help any one can offer would be great!!!

Is the the clutch releasing fully? How sloppy is your clutch pedal?

I cleared up a bunch of grinding by replacing the master cylinder and slave cylinder (and being more deliberate with my shifting)

Mine seems to be happiest with a little speed matching on down shifts (4th to 3rd for example). I depress the clutch, put the shifter in neutral, release the clutch and blip the throttle to bring the RPMs up, push down the clutch and it goes right in like butter. It sounds more difficult than it is, a little practice is all it takes. Keep in mind that the rotating parts in the trans are heavy and it takes the syncros a little time to match things up.

Is it level with the other pedals? Check the rod end and rod for wear you should be able to see and feel it where the 2 connect if you have any.

I'm with Brainfade, I shift mine like its got an eaton fuller 10 speed, and match revs, double clutch, and it goes into gear with only 2 fingers worth of effort.

I would pull the tranny and get the junk roller bearing out of there and replace it with a good ball bearing like what Southbend and Valair uses in there clutches. Machine work is required on the stock flywheel.

I had the exact same issue with my Toyota pickup 5 speed.

Turns out that I was using Amsoil 75-140 GL-5 Gear oil. Turns out the weight was correct, but the GL rating was not.

Toyota requires a GL-4 Rated oil in their manual transmissions, as they require "less slppage" between the gears. When I finally switched over to the GL-4 the difference was amazing.
