Geeez is it this hard to find rear drums!!??

Hello,

Boy am I having a time finding some rear drums for my 92 w-250. I tell them every time 2.5x12 and the 6200lb axle and every time I am getting a drum that is not wide enough.
The brake area is wide enough but the thing wont sit
all the way over the hub.

If anybody has a NAPA or other P/N hand please let me know.

My old drum is about 6.5" tall and it fits on a single rear wheel dana 70.

Am I asking for the wrong thing?

I am just plum wore out!! :-

Thanks
Matt

I know when you go to a lot of auto part stores you need to have them look it up for a one ton. I know when I have them look up some parts for my D250 they give me the wrong part.

If I remember right, you do need to get a quote for the 1 ton drums. They are actually used with a 3" shoe and slightly larger slave cylinder.

Yeah, Mr. Bushy is right- for some reason mine has the 3'' shoes on it- the first time I got shoes they gave me 2.5" Talk to Eric at Napa, he will spend some time and get you the right ones. Any chance you have 3'' shoes?

Re:Geeez is it this hard to find rear drums!!??

Thanks for all the input.

It turns out that even though my truck has 2.5" brakes I had to get the W350 duallie 3" x 12" drum
Just like you guys told me

I now understand why everybody says its so easy to upgrade rear brakes since 3" shoes will work.

2manydogs, I did go to napa and eventaully got the right
thing...it turns out that Kragen was actually cheaper
The NAPA guy was really helpful and I hate Kragen but
that is enough difference in price I have to take the NAPA
drums back

P/N 101961 at kragen $55.00
P/N 440-1417 at NAPA $77.00

There were also two price levels higher at each store. Im
cheap so I went with the cheap ones.

FWIW

I also found that the Raybestos Shoes from Kragen were also cheaper, no core, thicker metallic pad, and came with park
brake pins installed and new cable guides. NAPA pads were thinner and you had to assemble the park brake pins and reuse the old park brake cable guide.
