Gauges are in!

Had to take a short break from workin on the Jeep... about 16 evenings & 3 weekends straight of wrenching (complete overhaul 2 axles w/ 4.27 gears are in... just have to set the caster, weld the front perches, fill the diffs with 90w & then... pull the transfer to replace the adapter seals) has burnt me to a crisp...

Anyways, I've had the gauges for 3-4 weeks, molded the pillar mount 2 weeks ago, and was ready for some progress on the CTD too! Started about 1100 and finished up about 1700... lighting wired to dash circuit (all crimped + soldered & heatshrink), manifold tapped, & everything connected (gonna put the tranny temp sensor in tomorrow). The sheetmetal screws I bought to secure the pillar mount were 1/4" short (have black plastic "buttons" that snap over them), so I ended up using some with less "visual appeal" ... Test drive netted about 16# of boost tooling around the development!

While the dash face was off, I cleaned the radio & greased the connectors and replaced a couple of burnt bulbs (I wondered if the HVAC controls were actually lit )

Also, yesterday cut the welds loose on the 200# headache rack... while VERY heavily & nicely built, welded directly to the box wasn't doing the bed any favors ... Since it was gone, I replaced the rear sliding window latch to slow up the neighborhoodlums. In the next couple of weeks, I'll rethink the mounting, cut a few horz slats out (WAY too busy to see out of), & see if needs anything else before going back on...

Thanks for the inspiration guys!

Nice! Where did you get the gauge pod?

Thanks and keep up the good work!

The triple is from JCWhitney (part# in other thread) that took about 1.5-2 hours forming with heat to make work. I fit it very tight on the gauge edge and left a small "gap" on the front side for the wiring... had to grind the corner off the OEM pillar plastic for the bundle to fit thru though.

All in all, I'm happy as pig in $#|7!

Also, while giving her a wash/wax earlier, I found out why my glass and paint felt so rough... "Ford Blue" overspray on EVERYTHING! Since the gal I bought it from kept it at her families fabrication shop, I figure they shot something on a windy day & the CTD got "Simonized". I managed to razor the glasses, but the paint is what it is... metallic silver/gray w/ tiny blue dots = character!

nice work, I`m diggin the tripple. Try some wd40 and a clay bar on the overspray, it`ll probably come off pretty good.
