Gasket, and gasket goop remover

Gasket, and gasket goop remover

Im gettin ready to instal my oil cooler but i cant get the rest of the oil cooler gasket off. Its been siliconed on there. ive tried a scraper but they arent shrap enough and i dang near cut my finger off with a razor blade. any tricks or tips yall can give me?

I've resorted to a medium/fine grit sandpaper dipped in WD-40 with good results. The WD seems to break up the old gasket material pretty well. Just hit the surface with brake-clean to dry it up before applying the new gasket.

I usually use a scotch brite buffing pad (green) for aluminum with a right angle air die grinder for heads, oil coolers, you name it. Works great and doesnt take off any metal.
