Funny turbo sounds?

So after installing my Old Smokey Mount and 5" stacks, I notice that I can hear the turbo more. The question is, after reving normal, (shift into 3rd at 35mph, 4th at 55, etc) I am noticing a "Psshhhhhhuuuuuu" sound from the turbo when I let off the throttle and shift. I am not reving the heck out of, but I am wondering if this normal turbo noise or should I be worried?

Normal. The stock air cleaner assembly kills a lot of that sweet music.

You just don't want it going "woof-woof-woof." It may do that if you jump out of it at high boost.

Talking

As long as u don't hear the sound, of the air wheel going though the compressor housing an hiting the under side of the hood. No worries hold it to the floor an enjoy the sound.

sweet music

If you like the sound of a turbo working you should ride with me.Since I drilled the air box and added the 16 turbo housing it will positively SCREAM when pulling the trailer and there isn't any play in it either.

I like to shift around 38psi as I go through an underpass---that'll get the pedestrians attention

The look on the peoples faces when this big 'ole black truck comes roaring up behind them with smoke pouring out of the stacks and the turbo screaming does it for me...funny, I never seem to get cut off anymore

acutally, to tell the truth, I've been real easy on the truck for quite a while. with the AFC grind, you've really got to watch the right foot, and with my 12cm being so heavily ported, I really can't get the dang thing to spool under 1700 rpms...and by the time she's wound up, I've blocked 2 lanes of traffic with smoke and I'm 20mph over the speed limit...I guess I really pick and choose where I pour the coals on anymore...mostly for the sake of preserving our sport and others' opinion of diesel vehicles...but also to save a bit of #2!! Still got 20mpg this tank though---long live the 1st gen!
