fuel pump rebuild advice

I just dropped my pump off at the pump shop for a rebuild and I was wondering if there is anything in particular that I need to do before start up after I install the new pump. The pump is going to be stock except for a 3200 gov. spring. I would rather do the rest of the adjustments myself after installation. I would also like to say how thankful I am for all of your help. This website has saved me tremendous amounts of time and money. Thanks for all the help.

Most shops will void the warranty if you start to turn settings after they install it. have them set it up with the 3200 gov and I think they set them to 96ccs from 88ccs or so. From what I hea most certified Cummins dealers wont alter from D/C settings but others will.

You might ask them to pin the pump at 1.7mm lift.
That will give you a good, accurate internal timing set and it's right exactly were you want it to be. That is important if you're going to tweak it later and use uprated injectors in it.
Have them set the supply side pump to it's max rated level as well. I think the setting is 3.4 ( 3.4 WHAT? I can't recall) either way the spec for the pump will have a spec "band" which is acceptable for the supply side. Have them set it to it's max allowable in that "banding".
This will improve the pressure in the high pressure head and should help with atomization a bit as well.
