to rebuild turbo or not to rebuild
to rebuild turbo or not to rebuild
all right i need some advice: i have 98 12v 4x4 quad long bend, end of the year i bought some bosch extrude hone injecters "dragon flow" 150 hp over stock. i did not know they wouldnt work with out turbo upgrade. so i looked at phat shaft 66 (industrial injection rec.) around $1600. what i dont understand is can my stock hx35 be rebuilt with bigger parts.??you can buy new compresor wheels so im lost. i have the banks exhaust half on the turbo with big head waste gate. or is the inlet on the hx35 to small for that big of a compesor wheel
You can get up to a 60mm compressor wheel on the WH1C and HX35's. There is some machining required I believe, and you're still stuck with the small turbine wheel and housing. Better off getting an aftermarket turbo instead.
Those injectors do not 'require' a turbo upgrade to work. I ran 140hp injectors with my stock turbo for half a year. Was a very responsive setup, fun driver. But it got hot when it choked out on the top end. I daily drove a 64/71/0.80 turbo for a year and a half on there, was a great setup for daily driving. Never towed with it, so no comment there.
