If it is really a serious problem, and you don't want to damage the "stud": disconnect the fuel lines, blow the fuel out of the passages in the head, etc., take the cover off of the intake manifold, and heat up the "nub" in the casting behind where the "stud" threads in. Since you can get essentially to the other side of the threads on the stud, you should be able to heat the are up enough to release any loc-tite, etc., without heating up the fuel heater so much as to damage it. It is pretty likely, however, that the heater doesn't work anymore, anyway.

 

Daggum David. You've got a head-scratcher going on.

 

Well, I laid into it this afternoon. I took a wore out air chisel and cut it down to a fat blade and then welded it to a hollow lug nut. I used the lug nut because it has shoulders that I could put pressure on the nipple. So, with a 15" ratchet I just had to put the torque to it. With a loud snap it turned loose and twisted out. What a pain. Here is a pick of the blade, and it for rent.

 

That is a sweet homemade tool!

 

I am sure glad you got it out without destroying something. You might want to patent that one. I never saw an extended draglink socket before. Good work.
