Fuel Pin Problem

I wonder if I have a problem. When I pulled the diaphragm and pin tonight it was very reluctant to come out of the pump housing. Is this a normal issue with an aftermarket fuel pin?

When I pulled it out I found scoring in the face of the pin:

The first thing that jumps out at me is that I'm not getting full travel from my pin and I'm no where near the bottom where the fueling rate is the greatest.

What was surprising is the scoring that is there. The scoring was pretty deep at what I'm assuming is the idle position of the pin; the farther the pin travels downward, the lighter the scoring.

So is this normal? If not, what could be the problem?

See that's what I thought too. I'm just surprised there's scarring and I'm wondering if there's a pump problem.

he had a bad batch of material and replaced those ones with really tough pins.

Ditto, I heard he will replace the soft ones. I doubt there is a problem with your pump. The soft pin is just being worn by harder material.

Unless it's untaxed, then it's red.

Put your stocker back in and ship him the damaged pin. Since he's eating the cost I shipped him a pre addressed pre paid envelope so he could send me the new one at no cost to him. Not his fault after all, but he's been super professional to a lot of people and we all appreciate that!

Yep. I've got an email in to him right now. Just waiting on him to respond to see how he wants to handle it. I think I can find the stock pin, just gotta dig around a bit. Fortunately, the truck is down right now waiting on me to get the 366 spring in this weekend.
