Fuel filter drain valve is leaking
www.genosgarage.com used to carry the water in fuel sensor. That's if thats the part you're looking to replace. If you went to the parts store to buy a new fuel filter, it should come with all o-rings needed to seal the WIF sensor. Another option is to buy a fuel filter that doesn't use the WIF sensor, such as Fleetguard FS1221 or Baldwin BF1221. Longer than stock, no provision for WIFS, just a drain **** on the bottom. Available at anywhere Fleetguard or Baldwins are sold.
You can get the larger (better?) fuel filter that has no mount for the drain/sensor assembly. It has it's own drain built in. Some like it better. You just eliminate the fuel drain and sensor. Your light should stay off. Fleet Guard number FS1221. Here's a thread and pic.

Mine started leaking out of the drain on the first test drive after I resealed the injection pump(go figure). Dealer wanted $53, just got mine in from Geno's(Fleetguard brand) but it took a week to get to Texas. Cost about $28 including shipping.
a fleetguard fs1221 fuel filter instead of the stock fuel filter . . . the theads on the stock filter are M20x1.5H INT and the fs1221 theads are M16x1.5H INT how does this work out screwing the fs1221 filter on the different size theads?
The threads are the same for the stock filter and the FS1221. I've always used the FS1221 since I purchased my first CTD several years ago. If you did a search here, you'd find that a large number of DTR members use the FS1221, as it's a popular upgrade the the stock unit.

I did a bunch of searches using google so I get multiple sites' results. Yeah, it seems a lot of people like and used the, that's why I was surprised by this comment and wanted clarification. Thanks for the reply.
If you are in a bind - You can go to your local auto parts store and grab one for an 82 GMC 6.2L diesel - secondary filter and just screw it on. The filtration it gives is a bit tighter than the OEM Dodge versions.
Also make sure the leak isn't actually coming from the fuel heater gasket. Since the engine leans back a leak in the fuel heater gasket runs down the back side where it's hard to see and looks like it is coming from the bottom of the drain.
