front suspension question
You guys are gonna get tired of me...
Last night I got my set of SD Front coil springs, which are much larger than the stockers. Do I need a good set of shocks, or can i get the reg ones? My guess is that the shocks are not gonna work too much??
Thanks

i just did the front end on mine and i went with the bilstien shocks. bout $60 per corner, but i'd rather get in there and do it right one time then have to keep going in there and replacing stuff. I love the ride of the truck now but put everything on at once so i can't tell you exactly what made the difference. i'd say as long as you are in there replace it with a high quality part with heaviest rating just to be safe. my .02
a little off topic, how do you like the Detroit and where did you get it from?

I bought the truck with the locker in it, previous owner had it installed last winter because he couldnt make his driveway, still had the slips and all. The unit works flawless, and kicks in immediatly as should, when the truck digs, they both dig and downt stop.
The only thing I dont like is when in reverse, if you spin a hair it starts jaring the whole truck pretty bad, cause it wants to kick in and out with any slight wheel slippage.
Id surely recommend one to anyone.

I have one of the old/original Detroits. I believe they've made them much more live-able while retaining all of the original ruggedness. What I don't like (about mine) is the huge amount of backlash built into the unit---makes it feel like the pinion is missing every other tooth! Real good for extreme traction and puttin her sideways through a corner...or at least that's what I've heard
