Did you pull the axle shafts?
If so, then get a bigger hammer.
Or maybe a housing spreader.

Mark.

Pry bar on each side has always worked for me, it can be a little finicky. Just be sure to have something soft on the ground when it falls out.

I have my front axle out and at the machine shop right now. I will risk not putting a new inner seal.

What has me concerned is the endplay on the axle. How is this adjusted? I wonder if the inner nutt seated enough? I twisted it out by hand. Should have 50 pounds and then backed off a 1/4.

Again a big THANK YOU to all the suggestions. I got it out...seals replaced...and back in again.

Here's what worked for me....

Looped the strap over and around the carrier, then torqued it up as far as I could. Then beat on the carrier with my brass maul. And finally used that piece of 2x2 to lever it loose.

Now that's out of the way I can finally start reassembly.

That's a good find. Stash that one away for future use or sale.
