fluid dampner

I've seen these on PDR and other sites but the 12valve one says its for 91.5 and later what about earlier trucks would they work? Anyone that has one what do you think of these? I've talked to a guy who put one on his 6.2 diesel and liked it but haven't heard from anyone with one on their Cummins.

it will fit 89-90-91. I have one on one of my truck and I think it makes it run smoother. definitely a quality part and better than a stocker

I didn't think there would be an issue with it but thought it would be better to ask than spend $450 on one and find out it doesn't work.

If I'm not mistaken, the Fluidamper style of harmonic balancer is nothing new to the OEM 5.9 B series engine. I think the style is standard equipment on the marine 370 trim. I know it's standard on some B series industrial engines as its maintenance is covered in the respective FSM.

It's my understanding the fluid suspended balancing ring design offers a much wider range (rpms) of harmonic dampening as compared to the narrow/spiking range of the more commonly seen resilient mounted balancing ring.

.. .. scuze me.

I run one and find it allows the engine to seemingly rev higher, easier. At idle, there's a decided improved smoothness.

Would it be one on the Top Ten Must Do Mods for goofing around? Heck No!

Plans for longevity, higher power reliability, higher RPM range, etc should definitely consider it though.

It's my understanding those running dual and triple disc manual trans really like them as it aids in reducing if not eliminating clutch rattle.

I like it.

BIG HONKIN NOTE!

If your engine includes a Crankshaft Position Sensor, you'll need to order the accessory kit that allows you to relocate the CPS. The Fluidamper is a good inch + larger in overall outside diameter. The kit includes a substantial bracket and required bolts. It also includes a wiring harness extender though I found it better to simply reroute the OEM harness.
