Finally got rid of my pull cable!

I hated my pull cable but it has been a necessity since the pump is turned up so much. I knew I could come up with a better way. I bought a shut down solenoid for a p pump truck and made some brackets to mount it and so far it is working great. I had to remove the return spring on the manual shut down lever but that should not hurt anything. I used the started wire ran to a relay to activate it and the stock fss power wire for the hold wire. Now I can use my shutdown timer again! I had to do a little fab work but it was well worth the work to shut her down with the key like a normal truck. This would be good for the manual trans trucks because you have no worries about the truck rolling and starting itself if you have the pull cable setup.

You could even eliminate the FSS altogether with this setup and use the existing 12 volt signal to the FSS as the signal for the solenoid on the manual shutdown lever. Good idea and good work, Bill!

I can't tell in the pictures, but is there a fulcrum the arm pivots on or does the stud attached to the manual lever work fine?

Couldn't you.... in theory... utilize this setup as an anti-theft device ?

Yes all you would need to do is interrupt the starter signal wire with a toggle switch tucked up under the dash some place.
