Few pics of the broken mounting plate

Took out the steering box today, prepping it up for a crossover. Second time the plate cracked on me. Happy to be ditching it!

Hang it on your wall in your garage..... or bathroom like Ollie would....

Nice magnefine filter for the transmisson.

I use them as well, as they keep the filter in the trans clean, thus reducing the number of times you have to dump the whole pan. Swap mine out 2 times a year. Took it apart once, and found very minor particles attached to the magnet area. I guess it does what it's supposed to.

You mean we all don't have 1st gen drivers side Chrome mirrors in our bathrooms over the sink????? My daughter and I used paint strips from the hardware store to best match our Ramcharger's orange paint job for the bathroom walls as well....
Yeah we might take the saying "Mopar or no car" a little more serious than most.

I know I'm a packrat, but I would recommend keeping it. That unit looks as though a talented welder could make it operable again. The last one that gave out on my truck was snapped into three pieces and badly bent -- i.e., not repairable.

Since Mopar discontinued the part and disposed of the remaining inventory, these things are becoming rarer by the day. A few years ago, when Mopar had several thousand of these in stock, I ordered myself a spare and threw out a repaired one I had on the shelf. I've now used the spare and wish I had kept the welded unit...

Now gone from the classifieds.

The last one I purchased new from my local Dodge dealer in 2009 cost me $13.84 plus sales tax. At the time his computer showed Mother Mopar had more than 3000 of the units in her warehouse. Then one day a few years later she simply scrapped them all. For shame...

Wish I'd bought 50 of 'em.

Yes it is. And that's why it's unconscionable that Mopar sent hundreds of them to the scrap heap.

It may actually be a blessing that these things break -- before frame damage occurs. But not being able to order a new replacement is just wrong...

And most likely ILLEGAL.....

Wife had an 1984 corvette. Recall on the seat belts back in the late 1980's. Like everything else, the wife ignored it. I brought the recall notice in 20 years later, and they were required to honor a "Safety defect". They did with no charge to us, they had to have them made for the vette. (if you remember the drummer from Def Leppard ) it ripped his arm off in the accident he was in....

Regarding our dodges, I guess this is a semantics issue, as our gear plates were not recognized as a safety issue.... DUH !

I remember that recall, it was for the old GM type seat belt latches that released by a button on the front of the cat, my '68 Impala still has them. I can't wait to see their eyes when I bring it in for replacement. Just recenty, I showed a friend of mine what happens. If you connect them, then whack it on the back with your hand, they come open. In an accident, it's your hip bone, Illiac Crest for you medicos, that caused it to open...Mark
