EGT'S going UP with foot OFF the peadl

Can anybody point me in the right direction on this one. Let off the pedal going around a small curve in town, and truck felt like it was lugging, looked at pyro and EGT was up to 900 at only 30 MPH and coasting, I glanced in the right mirror and the puppy was smoking like a coal train, popped it into nuetral then back to drive, it quit. It's done this a few times before, but only when going into reverse, the truck shuttered like hell, nuetral/reverse, problem gone. I don't know if the pump was ever replaced under recall, but I don't think that shifting the tranny would clear it up if the pump was going south. It has at a few times when stopping at a redlight felt like it idled too high, but settled down. When this happened, the pyro was reading 450-500* at the light, and only stop and go in town, normally it says 300-325* at a light.
Also, is the recall good if it has never been done???

Could this possibly be the control sleeve binding and staying in the heavy fuel position in the VE? Sounds interesting. Take a look back at some of the older threads. There you will find the Chrysler Recall number. Call them, make sure you have your vin and the pump model and serial number on hand. There have been quite a few guys on here who have gotten a free pump.

Black Smoke means unburnt fuel and not enough air. What does your boost gauge show. Check all of boots for cracks and make sure that the clamps are tight starting from the turbo to the intake.
---
Al

Al,
I did all that on Friday afternoon, it hasn't done it again since. The problem only happens every now and then. As far as the boost, i don't remember seeing anything but a 0 on the gauge, but there again I was in traffic and feeling sorry for the poor fool that was beside me with his window done...
