Dually tire size's ???
Hey guy's, we have a 1993 D350 dually at work, and I have a chance to buy 4 brand new take off tires for the rear of this truck, which by the way, it needs real bad.....my question is, It came with 215/85R/16 .......The ones that are available are 245/75R/16 ...Will they fit on the dually rims without touching in the centre ??? I would buy a couple extra's for the front steer axle but it is a good deal, and the truck gets beat on preatty hard so I figured it would be saving a bunch of money......We dont tow very heavy with it, so it wont sqwat to much......Anyone ????
That is a very good question. It isnt uncommon to see 235/85/16 on duallies. the 245s are 10mm wider and a little shorter. It would be a close call. It would probably work if you ran higher tire pressures and ran light. This is only a guess.
I guess there is only one way to know, let us know. Good luck.

this just in!.....
a buddy of mine ran 245/75's on his 93 dually 4x4 and it rubbed! even with maximum tire pressure! his brother tried it on his 92 dually 4x2 and the tires were touching! yikes! i'd try mounting them first. then, if they rub, sell them even cheaper to me

Well my 1992 W350 Dually x-cab came from the factory with 235/85R/16's........But I am trying to buy brand new rubber for it right now.....We changed the inner rear rims and actually have a set of 255/85R/16's on the truck, front and rear....Looks real good like that....but I cant get a set of Bridgestone Revo A/T's in that size, best they make is the 235.....so I may go back to them....$147.00 per tire....vs the 245's a friend has for $75.00 each.......Kinda wish the work truck was a D250 now....
my 93 has 235/85/16s on the rear and 245s on the front, I really doubt the 245s will work on the rear as they are wider. the 235s at 50 psi sitting empty have about 1.25" between them, the width of the 245 loaded will cause rubbing. Different brands seem to be a little different even when there supposed to be the same size.

I have 245/75/16s on the front and the 235/85/16s on the rear. I dont recall how much difference there is in height, but it is a problem in 4x4. Thats how it was when I bought it a few months ago and I need to replace the fronts anyhow. It dosent take much to bind up the drivetrain so its a booger to get out of 4x4. I dont think the previous owner used 4wd. Luckily it has a LSD in the rear so I havent needed 4wd yet to get anywhere.

I have cooper 235/85's and I'm pretty sure I can get 245/85 on there. I just didn't want to wait for an order. I may go with larger rims and tires down the road anyhow. Matching tires should help you, but it's also usually easiest to be coasting to shift out.
