I had my door panels off the other day to fix a broken locking clip and both my doors are cracking and flexing horribly. Just got my gas wire feed welder up and running...think this is on the soon to do list.

This might be the fix for my pop top '80 Ramcharger doors, as they rattle badly going down the road.

I haven't ever noticed an issue with the doors other than having to replace the bottom hinges every 150k or so!
I am inclined to try this anyway because it makes sense.
I live in the dry country, but that hasn't stopped my drivers floor from rotting a giant hole along the sill. Probably losing tools down there!

I am bringing up this old thread as I am looking at doing this to the Gauntlet project.
I just saw how much flex there is in the door after doing Jim Lane's power motor fix today.
It is ironic that Wheelie King was the previous owner on my RC project...
What size metal bar did you use T-man? About 1/2 inch square tubing?

Its centered in the door skin, so half,is inside the door, half is outside.
Worth every ounce of effort to do...

I thinkle this is great. Another group has an retired dodge engineer commentin on doors. Earlier trucks had thicker door skins. I think b e added a diagonal to fix the lower hinge area.
I was thinking a few thin angles to the door skin as panel breakers would help in a lot of way.
not understandin the interference for the speaker.
