Door hinges
Door hinges
Has anyone had problems with the door pins wearing out and the hinges not working right. My dad replaced the pins and bushings but their is still play in them. Are their different pins and bushings, and has anyone had to have their door hinges or doors bent back to close right??? The wind whistle on the drivers side is really anoying

.Even though the pins and bushings were replaced, there is probably some play due to wear and tear of the hole in which the pin/bushing goes through. I only had a problem with the lower driver's side hinge. The bottom bushing on that pin was worn and caused the door to sag. I ended up replacing the lower hinge assembly because I had the hardest time removing the original pin. I picked it up from the dealer. NAPA carries the rebuild kit that everyone seems to be using. I haven't had any experience other brands of rebuild kits. Realignment is important too when reinstalling door hinges.
Yes, alot of that whistle can be taken away with good door adjustment, and not just the striker, but the hinges as well. I had the wistle, changed the pins & bushings, and adjusted the top hinge outward (Door In), and the door seals tighter around the front & top of the door and the wistle is gone....

My vent windows whistle if I open them. When I reclose them I push on each part of the triangle and one of the corners will stop the noise if pushed right. I forget which one but it is a constant and reliable thing.
HIJACK - (sorry) someone tried to steal my old girl and popped the vent, breaking the latch instead of the glass. He smashed the plastic shroud around the ingnition and broke of the ring. He could not pull the lock because I had replace d the retaining screw with a tougher one to keep it from falling out. I never expected it to resist a determined thief but it did. You should see the marks he left on it. Looks like he spent an hour on it.
